Quick User Guide
After success full installation of Instant file recovery software, run the application either from the desktop or from programs list in start menu START-->PROGRAMS-->Disk Doctors Instant File Recovery-->Disk Doctors Instant File Recovery.EXE
Once the application is launched, run wizard from the toolbar or from File menu(File-->Run wizard). The wizard window appears as shown in Figure (a).

Disk Doctors provide four main options to perform.
· Fast file recovery
· Lost file recovery
· Advanced file recovery
· Create disk image
Select fast file recovery option and click on Next button to continue. As you click on Next button, a window to select drives which needs recovery is opened as shown in Figure(b).
Select a drive from which you want to recover lost/deleted files and click on Finish button. The application scans the drive for deleted files and displays found files and folders in a tree format as shown in Figure(c). All the deleted files and folders will be represented with a cross mark on the icon to indicate that they are deleted data.
After tree formation, the next process left is to recover founds files to a safe destination location. Click on root to select whole tree or just click on the file/folder you wish to recover and click on save all/ save checked option to recover files to a safe destination location. You can find the recovered data in a new folder by name "#" in the selected destination location.
If you do not want to recover data now but do it later, then you can save scanned information using save scan information in File menu(File-->save scan information) and open it whenever needed using open scan information
(File-->open scan information). This will reduce the overhead of scanning the drive again to find lost/deleted files and folders.
All the operations performed will be recorded in a process log for further reference. You can either save the log file or clear it from the Tools menu.
Note: It is always recommended not to recover/save the data to the drive/disk from which data is being recovered. This may result in overwriting of data and may cause permanent data loss. Save data to a location other than the drive or disk on which recovery process is being performed.

Fast file recovery
Fast file recovery option performs quick scan on the selected drive for lost/deleted files and folders. This method is useful to recover most recently deleted files. In this method the application searches deleted file entries from the directory structure.
Note: This method is applicable only for logical drives.
Once you have selected fast file recovery option, a window to select logical drive for recovery is opened as shown in
Figure (a).

Select a drive from which you want to recover data and click on Finish to continue. The application scans for deleted file entries and lists all the found files and folders in a tree format as shown in Figure (b).

All the found files and folders are marked with a cross mark on the icon to indicate that they are deleted data.

Lost file recovery
Lost file recovery option performs thorough scanning on the drive to locate lost/deleted files. This method uses both quick scanning and signature search techniques to locate deleted data. This is to ensure that all the data is recovered without fail unless the data is overwritten and has undergone permanent data loss.
Note: This option is applicable only for logical drives.
Select lost file recovery option from the wizard window and click on Next to continue. As you click on Next button, a window to select logical drive which contains lost/deleted data, is opened as shown in Figure (a).

Select a drive from which you want to recover data and click on Next button to continue. As you click on Next, a window to select file types is opened(see Figure (b)).

Select the file types you wish to recover and click on Finish button to continue recovery process. The application scans for deleted file entries and lists all the found files and folders in a tree format as shown in Figure(c).

All the found files and folders are marked with a cross mark on the icon to indicate that they are deleted data. The tree also shows a folder by name raw data to indicate the result of signature search. Files found using signature search technique will be grouped according to their file types in raw data folder in the tree structure. However files found by signature search will not have their original name but instead represented by their parent numbers.

Click on root to select whole tree or you can select files you wish to recover and click on save all/save checked option to save the data to desired destination location. Advanced file recovery
Advanced file recovery option thoroughly scans for lost/deleted files. This method uses signature search technique to locate deleted data on physical drives.
If you have deleted the partitions and formatted the drive and you want to recover previous data then this is the right option to use.
Select advanced file recovery option from wizard window and click on Next to continue. As you click on Next button, a window to select physical disk which has lost/deleted data is opened as shown in Figure (a).

Select a physical drive and click on Next button. A window is opened where you can select file types you wish to recover (see Figure (b)).

Select file types and click on Finish button to start recovery process. The application rigorously searches for lost/deleted files and lists all the found files in a tree format as shown in the Figure (c).

Create Drive Image
Disk image is a file containing complete contents and structure of a data storage medium or device. Select create Image option on the wizard page and click on Next to continue. As you click on Next, a window to select logical drives whose image is to be created is opened as shown in Figure (a).

Select a logical drive whose image has to be taken. Once you select logical drive, select the destination path where you want to save the image file and click on Finish button to start imaging process. Image file created will have ".ddi" extension.
Note: Before creating image file, make sure that the destination location has enough space to create the image.
